Shopping with Grandma
I took my grandma shopping today. I woke her up at 1pm and told her that I was going to be leaving for Wal-Mart soon. So she got up and took a shower, got dressed, did her makeup, made a list of what she needed, and looked around for her "stuff." Her "stuff" was no where to be found and she couldn't communicate clearly what the "stuff" was, so here I am running around look for grandma's "stuff." I have no idea why I wasn't prepared for these kind of shenanigans when I decided to get her out of the house this morning. So we finally got to Wal-Mart at 3:56pm, NO LIE! That is 3 hours later people! So I dropped her off at the door and parked the car. By the time I got in the store, she was no where to be found. So I went about my business. Look for the few things I needed and then started looking for her. Well, I assumed that she would be in one of those Grandma scooter/wheelchair deals, because she always is, and assuming this I thought she would be easy to find. HECK NO! I looked for about 35 minutes before coming to the realization that sooner or later I would run in to her SOMEWHERE. Now it is 5pm and I am hungry and TIRED of being inside Wal-Mart at Christmas time looking for nothing else besides my long lost grandmother. I keep looking and I finally run in to her...She is pushing a cart down the narrowest aisle in the store with her fur coat (it is 50 outside!) knocking stuff of the shelves. Being the wonderful granddaughter that I am, I bend over and start cleaning the mess and offer to push the cart. It is at this point that she informs me that she is looking for the photo department and the fabrics. Easy task...I figure she wants to pick up the film she dropped off at 4pm when we arrived. OH NO! She has been looking for the One Hour Photo now for an hour. So I calmly lead her in the direction of the Photo place...Thank goodness it is VERY close to the fabrics. So I guess you see How my afternoon was... A little bit slower than usual. The good news is that she will sleep for many hours to come and she won't want to go out for a while. What a bonding experience we had!!
