Waiting for Monday
My garage has become the farm kitten rescue center for our street. I think this kitten ( or is it kittens) moved in on Wednesday when our garage door was stuck open due to the snow. Funny thing, garage door openers won't close if something is in the way of its safety eye, and the snow coming in the door was keeping it from closing. It took me about an hour and 20 minutes to realize that I could pull the red release handle and lower it down by hand.
I spent two days trying to make friends with this kitten. I have been feeding it and trying to get it to come to me so I could let it go with its mother who hangs out incessantly now. The kitten is scared to death of me and runs and hides under all of the boxes and furniture we still have in the garage. I will never catch this kitten.
I called animal control and they are going to come Monday with a cat trap, a humane way to capture such a shy kitten. They could not come on Saturday with a trap because they only do emergencies on weekends and this wasn't an emergency because the cat was "inside" and had food and water. Yes, I have been feeding it and giving it water. And Yes it has been pooping all over the garage.
I am not such a cat person for a few reasons. 1. I am allergic to them. So much so that I have been having to take allergy meds before I even knew there was still a cat in the garage. My eyes were burning and swollen on Friday when I woke up and it was that afternoon that I discovered the kitten. 2. Most cats I know aren't friendly. 3. The purring makes me nervous, isn't it similar to growling? (like tigers and lions?) 4. I love dogs and cats don't.
So I am patiently awaiting Monday.
