Prayer

As many of you most of you know, I am a 10 year (almost!) childhood cancer survivor. God has used my cancer in many ways. I would love to tell you all about all of them now, but that is not why I am writing. I am writing to ask you to pray for me. On August 7-13 I will be ministering at a camp for children with cancer and their siblings.

This year I am returning to camp after 2 years off for no other reason than God calling me there. About 10 months ago I was reading in Luke and read in chapter about Jesus healing the demon possessed man who had been living in the tombs and not wearing clothes for many years. Jesus healed him by casting out the demons, of course this surprised and scared the people of the city. Here are the last few verses of this account in Luke: Luke 8:37-39 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left. The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, "Return home and tell how much God has done for you." So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. After reading this I was reminded of my healing from cancer and the question "Where do I need to tell how much Jesus has done for me?" resonated in my head for days. I knew the answer was camp.

Please pray this week that I will be able to spend quality time with God, (NOT quantity time... there is little free time for Adult staff)! Pray for quality sleep. Sleep is so precious at camp and I need all I can get to function well! I need prayers for my heart to be open to what God wants to teach me this week. I want to be so close with God this week that I am not tempted to fall into battles such as fatigue, emotions, and other old patterns. I am praying that I will be able to show children and teenagers that it is possible to survive cancer and live a life to the fullest, IN CHRIST. Please pray for me to connect with the girls in my cabin (and other people at camp) and build relationships that will impact eternity.

I look forward to updating all of you of the cool things God does this week at camp. Thank you so much for your prayers!
