David's Heart

AHH! Another weekend that went by quickly. Some people just freak when you say things like "Time Flies.", but I am more and more convinced that it actually does. Do you realize that NEXT WEEK is Thanksgiving? How did that happen, wasn't I just at camp? I guess not.

David was doing better with his lung illness and his high fever, but last night his fever came back and now there is more. As I said in my last post, he was born with a heart defect, VSD. It was repaired in 1982. About 2 years ago or so, can't remember he started to have an irregular heart rate- a defect called atrial flutter. After a few days in the ICU, it stopped and he has only had a few episodes since. The treatment for this is quite detailed and invasive. Something we don't want to do.

Its been a hard few days and we are not sure where to go from here. I am praying that it will reverse on its own again or at least not be a problem. This could be heart failure that is not reversible and that is a bit unsettling. As someone commented before, it is just instinct to want to save him, but we that would prolong suffering and for what cause? More suffering.
