New Life!

I am excited that Spring is on its way! Today I was working in the yard, cleaning sticks from a recent storm and dead leaves from the not so recent fall, when I noticed something wonderful. The trees and bushed are budding, the grass is turning green, and flowers are starting to bloom! I really don't get excited about yard work, but today it was needed. I need to be outside, it was a sunny day. I needed to be alone with God and I needed to be doing a task that required little to no mental power.

As I was working in the flower garden all I could think about was the parable of the seeds and Jesus as the vines and us as the branches. My mind was there for several hours and God showed me many things. First of all it is hard work. Getting rid of dead stuff isn't as easy as I thought I was going to be. Many of the plants came up with a little tug because their roots were shallow. Others were growing new stuff under all of the dead leaves and branches. God used my time in the yard to remind me of some simple, yet life changing truths. I am thankful for Spring and the reminder of New Life that it is, I have a NEW life because of Christ. My heart is undergoing some major reconstruction and it is pretty painful. I am not excited about the pain and pruning, but I am excited to see New Life to come.
